Game Master Rules

We are seeking Game Masters to run events at HUZZAH 2024. Submissions are accepted between 3 December 2023 and 31 March 2024. Games will be approved on a first come – first serve basis. Game Masters who wish to offer adjacent sessions, should make sure that all their events are submitted at the same time. We will try our utmost to schedule you on the same table across multiple sessions. Please email huzzahteam@gmail.com if you have questions.

Game Masters must fill all fields in the event submission. Submissions missing information will not be approved. We will contact you and allow you to update your information in a suitable timeframe. Please ensure that you are listing requirements such as power outlets in the notes section. We cannot guarantee power outlets last minute.

Themed Games: HUZZAH 2024 is themed “HUZZAH goes Hollywood”, game masters may submit themed events (please indicate in your submission) to participate in the themed game competition. A jury will judge all themed tables and crown a “Best of Huzzah 2024” Game Master.

Tournaments: Game Masters submitting a tournament should only submit the first session and answer the tournament-related question. We will contact you to get all the information we need to schedule your tournament. All tournaments should be submitted by 15 January 2024.

Demo Games: Huzzah wants to encourage players to try out new game systems or rule sets. We also want to attract new players to the hobby. Game Masters are therefore encouraged to offer demo games in our new demo area. This is a great way to get people interested in your new game or rule set or to simply share your love and knowledge. You can reserve a table for a 4-hour slot but should plan on rounds being 30 min or less. Just one session of a demo game gets you a complimentary badge.

Complimentary Badges: Any Game Master who hosts at least 24 player hours of miniature events (eg., a four-hour slot for six players = 24 hours) will receive a complimentary badge to attend the convention. Any Game Master who hosts one session of a demo game, two sessions of a board game, card game or RPG will also receive a complimentary badge, regardless of the actual game duration.

Event Blocks: To facilitate scheduling and allowing players to easily flow between games, we are offering standard event blocks. Each block is 4 hours long and includes set-up and draw-down. Actual game time will therefore depend on the amount of time Game Masters need for preparing their table. Please be respectful to other Game Masters and make sure your table is empty and back in good and tidy condition. If you have a particular time-consuming event to set up, please target the 8.00 pm timeslot, as this allows most flexibility. Games not submitted during these time slots will either be rejected or moved to the appropriate time.

The following event blocks are available:

  • Friday, 17 May                    2.00 pm – 6.00 pm
  • Friday, 17 May                    8.00 pm – 12.00 am
  • Saturday, 18 May               09.00 am – 1.00 pm
  • Saturday, 18 May               2.00 pm – 6.00 pm
  • Saturday, 18 May               8.00 pm – 12.00 am
  • Sunday, 19 May                  09.00 am – 1.00 pm

Table Sizes: We are offering standard table sizes during the convention. These are

  • Board/card games             2.5 feet wide by 6 feet long
  • RPG                                    5 feet wide by 6 feet long
  • Miniature games               7.5 feet wide by 6 feet long
  • Demo games                      2 feet round high top

Game Masters needing a bigger table size may indicate that as a special request in the corresponding field of their submission. We only have a small number of bigger tables available, and thus cannot guarantee that a table will be available. Submissions are approved on a first-come – first-serve basis. Game Masters are not allowed to move tables unless specifically authorized.

We anticipate Game Masters to no participate in their events. Should slots be available, you are welcome to actively play in your own event.
